  • Victoria: Live music venue in Melbourne inner suburbs

We supported local residents in voicing their concerns with Council over the construction of a large new music venue to be built near homes.

We highlighted issues with the developer’s application, legal precedent for rejection and suggestions for improvements should the development be approved.

Following Council’s review of the objections received, the maximum capacity of the venue was reduced from 800 to 500 and its opening hours were also curtailed. Other conditions including noise abatement and crowd control were also secured.

  • Queensland: Battery energy storage system

Residents of a rural area contacted Submittee for help in objecting to the construction of a Battery energy storage system (BESS) in a pristine piece of the Queensland bush.

Submittee helped the residents in providing legislation and research-backed points of objection against the installation of the BESS in order to put their concerns across and address the frequent imabalance between developers and residents. Arguments included lack of consultation, the risk of fire and environmental impact.

  • Western Australia: Private Religious Educational Institution

Submittee provided support in objecting to the proposed construction of a private religious educational institute which was to be built in a quiet rural neighbourhood.

We were able to provide advice on how the proposed development was inconsistent with zoning, the impact on trees which are considered a local icon and the impact of traffic on the safety and amenity of local residents.
